Leonida and Vice City: GTA VI's setting

GTA VI is set in the fictional state of Leonida, inspired by Florida. It's the biggest, most ambitious world Rockstar has ever built — and several of its locations are already officially named. Here's what we know.

Vice City in GTA VI

The state of Leonida

Leonida is the fictional version of Florida in the Grand Theft Auto universe. Like the real state, it blends coastal metropolises, beaches, swamps, inland towns and a chain of islands to the south — promising the most varied map in the franchise so far.

Vice City, the heart of the game

The centerpiece is Vice City, the Miami-inspired fictional city that has appeared in the series before. In GTA VI it returns in a modern version, full of nightlife, beaches, art-deco skyscrapers and the neon aesthetic that became a series trademark. It's the urban core where Lucia and Jason's story unfolds.

The confirmed locations

Beyond Vice City, Rockstar has officially named other regions of Leonida. See where they sit on our interactive map:

Leonida Keys

An island chain to the south, clearly inspired by the Florida Keys — islands linked by bridges, tropical weather and a seaside-paradise vibe.

Port Gellhorn

A port city in the northwest of Leonida, in the region matching Florida's panhandle. A more industrial, coastal setting away from Vice City's glamour.

Mount Kalaga National Park

A national park to the north, with dense forests and rugged terrain — the wild, natural side of Leonida, great for exploration.

Grassrivers

A vast region of swamps and mangroves inspired by the Everglades. A unique biome with its own wildlife and a very different atmosphere from the rest of the map.

How big is the map?

Speculation Rockstar hasn't released official dimensions. Community analysis of the trailers suggests the map could be much larger than GTA V's, but this isn't confirmed. We treat specific numbers as rumor until Rockstar says otherwise.
